PlayFree is a grassroots community funded passion project started by neighbors for neighbors. Our founders, Meagan Terry, an experienced relationship therapist, and Colin Terry, an educational psychologist specializing in technology, knew families needed support in preparing their children to be tech savvy. Their combined expertise laid the foundation for PlayFree: a movement rooted in healthy relationships and developmentally wise tech choices.

About Us

Meagan Terry, LMFT, Founder

From the start of my career, I’ve believed that strong relationships are the foundation of healthy families and thriving communities. For over fifteen years, I’ve helped people reconnect with themselves, their partners, and the people around them and I’ve seen something simple but powerful: when we feel supported and understood, everything grows stronger.

Alongside founding PlayFree, I continue my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, supporting individuals, couples, and leaders in building more connected lives. Earlier in my journey, I served as a Clinical Director and led ArtLab, a Denver arts program honored at the White House for its impact on youth and the arts—experiences that deepened my belief in creativity, connection, and collective change.

After nearly twenty years in Colorado, I felt the same hesitation many parents do about handing my creative, nature-loving daughter a phone. I knew there had to be a gentler way—and that other parents felt it too. PlayFree was born from that shared hope: a grassroots movement built on connection and community, reminding us that kids deserve space to play, explore, and grow up at their own pace. One small sign at a time, we’re showing that childhood is worth protecting and that real change starts right here, in our neighborhoods.

The Magic Makers

There’s been a lot of driveway hangouts and coffeeshop brainstorming sessions. PlayFree was built out of a love for our children and community. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our amazing community. Big shout outs go to:
